Case Study: Tailored Off-the-Shelf Health and Safety eLearning

AT A GLANCE

  • Highly customised eLearning courses
  • Rapid deployment
  • UK health and safety legislation explained clearly

THE CLIENT

Our client is a leading manufacturer for both business and home users across the world.

The European division of the company is based is the UK and employs over 13,000 people throughout the region.

THE CHALLENGE

Our client wanted to provide their workforce with comprehensible, high-quality health and safety eLearning.

This online training needed to provide staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to comply with UK health and safety legislation.

SkillSet was initially approached to provide consultancy to help understand the best way to provide the learning. We were subsequently contracted to develop a package of tailored, off-the-shelf eLearning courses.

OUR APPROACH

SkillSet offers a wide range of tailored off-the-shelf eLearning courses. Our unique approach combines the convenience of ready-made courses with the adaptability to suit our clients’ individual needs.

Working with the client, SkillSet clarified the aims, objectives, and needs of the intended audience. We proposed a suite of nine off-the-shelf eLearning courses that could be tailored to meet the user’s specific needs. Topics included: an introduction to health and safety, fire safety, and using display screen equipment.

The courses were branded to include the organisations logo and colour scheme, reflecting their unique look and feel. This helps to maintain a consistent learning experience.

We also included customer-specific scenarios. This puts the learning into a context that the user will understand and make it relevant to them personally. Learners then absorb and retain the learning much more effectively than they would from generic material.

The content is enhanced by integrated links to existing resources. This enables learners to seamlessly access relevant materials, such as organisational policies and procedures, when they are learning about related topics.

Each course includes scenario-based questions and a marked assessment at the end. Administrative staff can set a pass-rate and monitor staff success.

Once approved, the SCORM files were uploaded to the client’s learning management system. Find out more about learning management systems here.
